Safety and Security

Students and parents naturally share concerns about leaving the safety and security of home and living in a totally new environment. Caulfield Residential recognises the importance of providing a safe and secure environment and has adopted an extensive system of both passive and active measures to maximise personal safety and security.

The International Mews apartments are maintained to ensure that all paths and walkways are clear, wide and well lit at night. Lighting is also placed in and around the car park, Monash University’s security personnel patrol at various times during the evening and Monash Security can be contacted on 9903 2211 or on extension 333 for any emergency, day or night.

A security service is available to escort students who are returning to their vehicles or houses late at night. Residents should contact Monash Security who will provide instructions.

An experienced team made up of both Caulfield Residential staff,  senior residences and security staff  provide assistance to students 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

In addition to the steps taken by the University to protect the students living on-campus, there are some things the residents can do to help protect themselves and the buildings in which they live.

  2. Lock your bedroom door when you are not in residence
  3. Close and lock your windows when you are not in residence
  4. If you have a car parked on campus, make sure it is locked and the windows closed when leaving it unattended.
