Maintenance

Role of the domestic operations staff

The Domestic Operations Office understands how important it is that the various types of accommodation at Clayton Residential receive appropriate levels of detailed maintenance and cleaning. Maintenance is provided by Facilities & Services staff and independent contractors, whilst cleaning is provided by various contract cleaning companies. There are approximately 1200 rooms at Clayton Residential, approximately 12 contract cleaning staff and over a dozen companies providing contract maintenance services.

The Domestic Operations staff ensure that all minor maintenance works, cleaning of communal areas and cleaning of student rooms is carried out effectively and efficiently on a daily basis.

Maintenance Requests

In relation to maintenance requests, the Domestic Operations personnel can be contacted in the following way:

  • Via your online maintenance request form;
  • Hard copy maintenance cards provided in the foyer area of all halls; OR
  • For an emergency maintenance item between Monday and Friday by calling extn. 56200.

The goal of the Domestic Operations Office staff is to ensure that they provide a comfortable, safe and clean living environment for all residents at Clayton Residential.

Please note that online maintenance request forms sent through are processed Monday to Friday. For after hours or weekend maintenance emergencies, please contact the Operations Office or the MRS Services Personnel.

Cleaning

Clayton Residential engages external cleaning contractors to clean the communal facilities. They currently clean at:

  • Halls of Residence and Normanby House, Clayton Residential engages the United Facilities Group. Cleaners from this company work on site seven days per week.
  • South East Flats, Clayton Residential engages Bond Cleaning Company and the cleaning takes place between Monday and Friday.

Electrical Equipment

Residents are reminded that only Australian compliant power boards with 10 amp cut-off switches are permitted at Clayton Residential. Double adaptors are prohibited from being used in any area of Clayton Residential.

The following items are prohibited from being used in resident rooms:

  1. Double adaptors
  2. Portable electric heaters
  3. Cooking equipment
