Safety and Security

The safety and security of all residents living on-campus is of significant importance to us. The protection of students, staff and visitors is the primary role of the security service provided by the university.

Reporting to the Head of Monash Security at Clayton Campus, MRS - Clayton Residential Services Personnel are responsible for the overall site security of persons and property, assisting residents, staff and visitors with the various aspects of communal living.

Some of their duties are:

  • To provide access and secure MRS - Clayton Residential buildings.
  • To detect and prevent damage to MRS - Clayton Residential property.
  • To assist in the event of emergency or other serious incidents.
  • To maintain good public relations and exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with the community.
  • To develop an environment that encourages personal growth in a community context.

In addition to the steps taken by the University to protect the students living on-campus, there are some things the residents can do to help protect themselves and the buildings in which they live.

  1. Lock all doors when exiting the residence
  2. Lock your bedroom door when you are not in residence
  3. Close and lock your windows when you are not in residence
  4. If you have a car parked on campus, make sure it is locked and the windows closed when leaving it unattended.
  5. Report any suspicious persons you seen around residences to Monash Security on extension 53333
