Phones
Bedroom Phones
All residents are provided with a bedroom phone with a private telephone number (there are displayed on the telephone screen). This enables residents to receive telephone calls 24 hours a day directly to their bedrooms. All residents have access to voicemail. The default password is ‘0000”.
The phone service in your bedroom is connected to the main campus switchboard, as such all bedrooms have an internal extension number. Calls can be made to other internal numbers within the campus, across campuses and within the Gippsland Residential free of charge. Residents wanting to make external calls must use a 'phone card'. Phone cards can be purchased from the Residential Office and MUGZOO central.
Monash Phone Quick Reference Guides are available from the residential office.
House Phone
Each unit also comes equipped with a house. This phone can be used to receive incoming internal and external calls. You can also call internal Monash extension numbers from this phone free of charge.
External calls to external numbers and mobiles can be made from any residential phone with a calling card.
All home phone numbers are identified by a sticker on the handset. To dial out to any external number by using any residential phone, you must dial ‘0’ followed by the number. Some numbers are pre-programmed, free of charge for resident use. All ‘1800’ numbers are free of charge.
