Residential Support Team
Here at Gippsland Residential, we provide independent living facilities of houses that accommodate between 6 and 10 students (west and south residences, respectively). Each unit is fully furnished and is similar to your own family home in that we provide individual bedrooms for each student and shared common facilities (bathroom, kitchen, lounge etc.).
As we appreciate the diversity of students living within residence, like any living arrangement, we acknowledge that conflicts and issues can arise within the houses. To assist in settling in and resolving issues and creating a safe and caring community, we have a Residential Support Team that comprises of College Heads and Residential Advisers.
College Heads are after hours staff members that ensure the smooth running of residence. We provide pastoral care to residential students from diverse socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We also support and train a team of 8 Residential Advisors (RA) who help use achieve our goals.
RA’s are a team of enthusiastic and proactive student volunteers that are selected for their leadership capabilities and involvement within the community. Each Residential Advisor is allocated a group of houses for which they are then responsible, and it is their role to assist residents with conduct and promoting a harmonious living environment. They help new students settle into their accommodation and ensure the welfare of all students in their area.
The Residential Support Team (RST) is available at all times to respond to any student welfare issue or emergency needs. The RST endeavours to create an active community where residents can make new friends at ease. To encourage this, we regularly organise social (events and free fortnightly dinners), recreational, cultural and academic activities throughout the year for all students living with us on campus.
Prospective students and their families can be assured that all residents will be welcomed into what we call a “home away from home”. Students have the opportunity to live independently but will also have the support from a very dedicated and well trained residential support team that will endeavour to make your transition into residence smooth and living in a residential community fun and fulfilling.
