Personal Security and Safety
While the thought of leaving home is generally an exciting prospect for most young adults, it's also true that many students, and parents, share real fears about leaving the safety and security of home. The Gippsland campus recognises the importance of providing a safe and secure environment and has adopted an extensive system of both passive and active measures to maximise personal safety and security.
Gippsland's accommodation is consistently maintained to ensure that all paths and walkways are clear, wide and well lit at night. Lighting is also placed in and around all residential precincts, car parks and buildings.
The campus employs 24hour security personnel to ensure the safety of everyone on campus.
A security service is available to escort students who are returning to their vehicles or houses late at night.
Push-button emergency phones have been located throughout all residences, university buildings and car parks which connect the caller to an officer of the Emergency Response Group. Alternatively, residents can dial "333" (free call), from any internal Monash telephone to contact Monash Security.
An experienced team made up of both Residences and Security staff provide assistance to students 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
