TelephonesEach residence has either one or two central phones to be shared with the other residents. These phones are dial in only with the added benefit of no charge internal calls within the University PABX system, access to emergeny 000 and 1800 numbers to allow phone card access. External calls are possible by the purchase of a phone card. These pre paid cards are available at the MONSU bookshop, newsagents, supermarkets and petrol stations. Calls are made via the 1800 phone option on the card. Residents can arrange with a phone provider to have a private phone line installed. The cost of this line is the full responsibility of the student. Further details regarding this phone line can be obtained at the Peninsula Residences Office. Monash ITS is currently working on a VoIP project. Once completed phone calls will be possible via the data point in each room. |
