Short Term Accommodation for Staff
Monash Residential Services currently provides 9 off-campus properties that are available exclusively for short-term staff accommodation. This accommodation is available for use by staff that are new to the University, or current University employees in Transit.
Owing to the fact that the number of properties available for Short Term Accommodation is limited and coupled with a strong demand for those properties, the maximum length of stay is four months.
Monash Residential Services is currently reviewing the feasibility of developing additional transit housing options for University staff. One of the options being reviewed is the development of on-campus housing for staff.

‘‘Coming from afar to spend some time at Monash University presents more than a few
little problems (challenges!). Getting to know the geography of the campus, the public transport
system, local shopping etc. all take a little time to get used to. As a visitor from overseas
(Scotland) the biggest problem I faced was where to stay? From the map I found Melbourne with
little difficulty but the various suburbs, such as Dandenong, Mulgrave, etc. were names that mean
nothing to me. Were they close to Monash University? Can I travel easily to and from the campus?
Such questions are not easy to answer from the other side of the world.
Another problem was the large amount of rental accommodation that was available throughout the
area, from penthouses to units. To complicate matters virtualy all of the rental properties were
unfurnished i.e. after arriving at this distant shore I would need to find a Hotel/Motel, hire
a car, visit seemingly endless rental properties and make a choice pretty quickly.
To the rescue came MRS with a range of
reasonably priced fully furnished housing, all within walking distance to the University.
Having returned to Monash as a visitor a number of times over the years I have nothing but praise for
the high standard of accommodation. The houses have always been beautifully cleaned and literally in
"walk in" condition.’’
